It has been over 8 years since we have opened our doors - we are thrilled to be mentioned in the Gourmand and Gourmet's recent article on Brisbanes Iconic Classic's.

"With spring well and truly upon us, and summer (read: bikini season) fast approaching, the lighter the meal the better. But light doesn’t mean a couple of icky iceberg leaves decorated with watery cucumber, celery, and bean sprouts. Take a leaf out of our book... Heed the city’s most scrumptiously satisfying (and slimming!) salads... Asian Chicken Salad. A staple on their menu for as long as I can remember, Harveys is notorious around town for their fancy, fresh Asian greens. A mix of coriander, mint, peanuts, and coconut, with tamarind dressing, it’s the perfect summer snack..."

"Sick of forking out $50 for breakfast for two? Heed our top 15 brekkys under $15. We’re all about bringing you bang for your buck… Fruit Bowl - A mountain of fruit in all colours of the rainbow. Think strawberries, grapes, pineapple, rock melon, honeydew melon, apple, passionfruit, and watermelon, sprinkled with coconut and doused in bush honey."

"50 things you should have done if you live in Brisbane. This list should probably be named “50 Things You Should Have Eaten If You Live In Brisbane”. As a working title, that one’s certainly more apt. One glance and its glaringly obvious that Brisbane’s culinary offerings have really captured my interest over the last few years. 42. Spend Saturday shopping and/or people-watching on James Street. 43. And grab breakfast, lunch, or both at Harveys while you're there."

"Porridge is a winter staple. But, like so many things, it’s better left to the pros. Trade in the microwave oats and milk for something a little more gourmet, as we countdown our top picks for the city’s most gloriously creamy porridge concoctions. A mainstay on their winter breakfast menu, Harveys porridge does not disappoint. Hazelnuts and rhubarb sit delicately on some of the creamiest oats you’ll ever come across. It may not be the best for those on a health kick, but boy does it make a great winter warmer."

"...Harveys has had a facelift, and it's more than just a lick of paint and some new furntiture...the whole restaurant has taken on a crackling new energy. PJ has a knack of putting together flavours and textures that sing far beyond the sum of their parts, and his plates have a great balance between fresh and rich, light and heavy."

"The owner of Harvey's, PJ McMillan, received tongue-in-cheek death threat texts when he closed this James Street favourite for a renovation recently. The savoury mince tortilla spiced with cumin, coriander, carroway, chipotle chillis, fennel, garlic, topped with avocado, sour cream and a poached egg is the hangover panacea of choice to which most regulars turn. There's plenty for the sweet tooth too, including some superior ricotta-buttermilk pikelets with caramelised banana and honeycomb butter."

'Top 12 cafes to kickstart your day'
"Amid the crush of shops, cafes and bars that cluster James Street. Harveys is a serene oasis with cool comfort indoors and a picturesque covered terrace overlooking lawn and trees where patrons can enjoy the sub-tropical dining alfresco."
Gourmet Traveller 2011 Australian Restaurant Guide
"There's competition aplenty on fashionable James Street, but if you're in search of depth of flavour and a glass of something other than the usual, make a beeline for Harveys."
